Smart Power : Dolphin Charger’s ACS Unit to steal the Show in Miami

MIAMI (USA), 14 February 2019 – Dolphin Charger is proud to be featured this year again at the Miami International Boat Show. « This year, we want to introduce a very smart power product to all American boat owners. It’s called ACS, which stands for Automatic Charge Selector. If you do not have one onboard yet, check this out ! », says Nicolas Fata, Head of Sales.

The Dolphin ACS is a « smart voltage sensing relay ». But what is that ?

Voltage sensing relays (also known as automatic charging relays) are used to automatically replace the traditional manual process of controlling the charge function between two batteries banks.

And what purpose does a smart charge selector serve ?

It’s simple : it makes sure you protect your onboard electronics and avoid battery drainage. This is how : its unique « Current Limit Function » prevents domestic (house) battery voltage drops during the engine start phase as well as during the bow thruster phase. This is absolutely necessary as it prevents damages to your onboard electronics, as well as battery drainage.

Dolphin’s Automatic Charge Selector (ACS) enjoys a triple ISO Certification (ISO 13297, ISO 10133, ISO 8846) as well as a strong IP67 Waterproof Certification. This is simply perfect for all gasoline outboard engine boats (powerboats).

Dolphin ACS is the first compact smart voltage sensing relay which replaces your traditional electro-mechanical relay devices. Dolphin ACS features MOSFET technology. « The Dolphin ACS unit is available in two versions : 50A and 80A ”, says Nicolas Fata. « Got a powerboat ? You need an ACS onboard. Full stop. »

The marine industry: how to tackle the shortage of operational manpower?

Despite a large number of job opportunities, this problem is particularly acute among pleasure boat builders. The main challenge for the marine industry is to attract and retain talent. This situation raises a number of questions: how can we improve the visibility and attractiveness of nautical professions? What strategies should be adopted to solve the housing and transport problems that are obstacles for potential workers? And how can innovative companies - such as Dolphin Charger - play a role in revitalizing this sector?
